Help Support Strong Boy W/ Cancer

Donation protected
Our journey has just begun 3 weeks ago, we thought our boy initially had the flu he was pale, coughing and really tired. After visiting the doctors on 3 seperate occasions and taking antibiotics nothing seemed to improve. Within a week he started vomiting early hours of the morning, that day was refused blood tests from the doctors saying he was fine, "just has a cold". But we all know mothers know best, and luckily mum took the initiative as she knew this was not right. We are now in the lady cilento hospital with a diagnosis of acute ALL lymphatic leukaemia and was in the danger zone. If we had not gotten him treatment and on chemotherapy asap then he would've had 3-7 days to live. Our journey has been a shock to the family and we are now learning to reach out for the support we need.

After being in hospital for 2 weeks in the danger zone we've been sent home twice and both times have had to be rushed back with  peak hour traffic while he's been sick, vomiting, shaking and at another time fought for his life.  It would take us 25 minutes from home to the hospital but because it's in the CBD it can and has taken us over an hour to  get here. We've been told that because he is now on steroids to help him fight the cancer with the chemotherapy that he has now steroid induced diabetes, if he was to have a fever we need him on the drip within the hour or he could go septic and lose his life. He has already had this a few days ago and he was almost too late to get on the drip as he was sent to emergency first after a long drive and only on a very lucky chance an oncologist happened to walk by and overhear his condition and saved him putting him on the drip.

We've now learnt that because we are within the catchment zone we do not have access to any help for accommodation, help with bills, help with transport, or even help managing family stress levels.

The nurses and the doctors have been so lovely here and we are so grateful that they are keeping him alive, but as his older sister I believe both him and my mum deserve a lot more support than they are currently recieveing.

He will be in intensive treatments for 8 months, other families are recieving massage vouchers, food vouchers, bills paid for, accommodation paid for that's accross the road.. -All that we are wanting is for accommodation  so if he is ever in any danger of falling sick, we have ability to save his life and have piece of mind that he is still with us.

Apartments close by around here is $350-$400 p/week and all we want is the cost to cover that for the intensive 8months.

His name is James and all he's wanted was to be with his family, have them close to him. He's always wanted to go to snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef and see sea turtles with all of us around him.

It breaks my heart to see this strong amazing and intelligent boy being hindered by this horrible condition.

If any of you can find it in your heart to donate to help our situation, this would be so greatly appreciated.

If you cannot find the money, please just donate blood as he will be undergoing over 100 blood transfusions over the next few months, and this would be the best support for others in our situation. Anyone that is donating blood in James's name, please let us know as we would love to hear of the difference his journey is having for others.
