Carl, "The Santa Claus of Fredericksburg Road", needs our help. For decades he has waved to us and flashed his huge smile as we've passed him on Fred Rd but now he desperately needs our help. Yesterday morning (4/26/17) Carl was struck by a pickup truck with a motorist with no insurance as he was crossing Vance Jackson. He received major injuries to his head and back along with severe road rash. And sadly, his only link to the world, his beloved motorized wheelchair is totaled. He is currently in the hospital. Carl lives alone, is disabled and on a meager fixed income. We are looking for assistance from the community to get him another motorized wheelchair and to help with his medical bills. The company,Restoring Mobility, is generously offering to assist with a discounted chair with extra safety features. Carl is one of the most resilient, outgoing and optimistic Individuals I have ever known. He would never ask for anything for himself as he prides himself on his independence. But this accident and its aftermath is too great a burden for him to shoulder alone. Any amount is appreciated as we help to get Santa back to good health and back on his sleigh. God Bless.
