Tiffany's Appendix Cancer Fight!

At the end of February, Tiffany came to the ER with abdominal and stomach pain fully expecting it to be a flair up of her diverticulosis or stomach ulcer. What they found was appendecitis. They attempted to convience her to leave the appendix in and do an experimental trial where they only treat with antibiotics. Thankfully Tiffany trusted her gut and she opted for the appendix removal. Because a week later she got the call that they had found a 1.1cm neuroendocrine tumor in her appendix. If the appendix had been left to burst it would have seeded her entire abdomen with cancer. During the staging process the oncologists recommended removing the right side of the colon and the lymph nodes behind to test for spread. The PET scan lit up in the colon area so we went ahead with the surgery finding another neuroendocrine tumor in the colon. This makes her cancer Stage3. The most concerning part is this is considered a highly aggressive cancer and next step is chemo. This GOFUNDME page will help with the rising medical costs of surgeries and chemotherapy treatments. We are blessed to have private Healthcare but there is a yearly deductible to meet and some things are just not covered at all. We have already used up Tiffany's bridge insurance for the appendectomy. Medical costs are not the only concern as Tiffany is not able to work healing from suregery and it is an unknown whterher she will be able to work during thw cycle of chemo. Anything, even a small donation will help. Thank you to everyone who donates their time, money, meals, prayers, good vibes. Whatever it is you have sent our way we appreciate it greatly! Here's to kicking cancers butt in 2017!

Finished my first week of chemo. So far, so good. Anti nausea meds have worked well and the steroids they give you have actually helped my appetite. Hair hasn't started falling out yet, but it should before my next round. I think the hardest part about it all has been how it changes you emotionally. Your out look on life is no longer the same. All of the things you thought you could wait to do you can no longer wait for. Moments are sweeter, less of an irritation, and life has more value. Everyday for the rest of my life, I will live like I'm dying. And that's a good thing. Please take the time to donate to my GoFundMe, or drop in and post words of encouragement. Share it anywhere and everywhere you can. Thanks again, every little bit helps.

Surgery follow up today. Got the pathology back from my hemicolectomy. They found a 1.9cm neuroendocrine tumor in the fatty tissue around the colon (near the appendix removal spot). Everything else looked good. They will be calling to schedule the procedure to put in my chemo port in the next few weeks. I see the medical oncologist on the 17th and will get all the chemo set up. It's so surreal. Chemo terrifies me but I keep telling myself, I have the opportunity to fight this before it's already got the upper hand. That's a blessing. A little trivia: Neuroendocrine carcinoma is the cancer that killed Apple founder, Steve Jobs. He waited too long, he tried alternative treatments and it cost him his life. Another side note: Appendix cancer is very rare, one in a million rare. And I have a mixed and aggressive form, which makes me one in a billion. One in a billion and ready to fight! #kickingcancersbutt
