Houston's Medical FUNDraiser

Donation protected
Houston Holbrook started the fight for his life just a little over a year ago, June 14, 2013. You may read the older post below from when his journey to fight AML first began. A lot has happened since then. We have had the best of times, creating beautiful memories with family and friends. We've also seen the worst and he is currently in the worst position he's been in yet. He is now 29, and he continues to defy the odds and amaze the doctors. They are having to come up with a new plan for him every time we move forward because his AML case is so unique. He has undergone TWO bone marrow transplants and was pronounced cancer free for about two weeks... then everything changed. He has something called graft vs host disease or GVH. This simply means that his donor cells are fighting his own cells to try and take over. However the GVH is more aggressive then they would like to see. Houston has broken out in a rash all over his body, looks something like what a burn victim would look and feel like. The pain is relentless so much that he can now hardly move. Aside from the GVH he has relapsed and his leukemia is back by more then 75%. He remains very optimistic and hopeful for the future. His journey and fight is far from over. We are very much back at where we started but he's not giving up. He has been admitted to the hospital once again and really needs all the love, support and prayers he can get. You can follow his incredible story on Facebook, Houston's fortitude surrounded with love. We invite you to please make a donation, big or small you'll help make a difference. Thank you for your love, prayers and support for Houston and the Holbrook family.

First post:
Houston Holbrook is 28 years old and graduated from BYU in the summer of 2012, only to have his life drastically changed the following summer. June 14th 2013 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia. In his case it is a rare form because the average age of someone who gets AML is 68 years old. Less then 20% of people under the age of 40 in the world are diagnosed with this kind of blood cancer. Houston has undergone a few rounds of chemotherapy and has had blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsy's and receives blood and platelets on a regular basis. We found out that he needs to have a bone marrow transplant, in which his siblings were all tested to see if they were a match for him..unfortunately none of them are a match and he is now waiting to hear that the doctors have a match on the registry to donate to him. His medical bills are going to be over a million dollars now that he has to have the transplant. Were doing several fundraisers to lessen the burden of his medical bills. This is now the fastest and best way to give directly to Houston.

Below is the link you can go to if you would like to get on the BONE MARROW REGISTRY, being the hope for someone else that is in his same situation:
