Cuando nos casamos en España en el 2010 no pedimos a nuestros amigos ningún regalo. Nos bastó la felicidad de unir legalmente nuestras vidas como anhela cualquier pareja enamorada. Desde entonces cumplir el sueño de una vida juntos ha sido difícil. La realidad y los sueños no siempre se dan la mano. Luis no puede trabajar por su enfermedad del corazón y yo, porque no tengo status legal para hacerlo. Gracias a la ley que acaba de ser aprobada por la Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos puedo obtener los permisos necesarios para trabajar aquí y poder así contribuir económicamente a la familia que hemos creado. Este proceso cuesta un dinero que no tenemos. Por eso hoy necesitamos la ayuda de todos y en lugar de una batidora o un juego de copas les pedimos que nos ayuden monetariamente a lograr nuestro sueño. Esta será nuestro Wedding Registry.

When Antonio and Luis got married in 2010 they did not ask or register for gifts, all they longed for was equality. Antonio is a Venezuelan born Spanish citizen and Luis is a Cuban born American citizen. The two met in 2006 and since that time they have been trying to find a way to be together. Despite their valid marriage Luis was not allowed to bring his husband into the United States. Because of DOMA bi-national same-sex couples couples were forbidden from enjoying the same rights as bi-national heterosexual couples. Following the recent decision in United States v. Windsor, 570 U.S. ___ (2013) Antonio and Luis finally got a spark of hope. However, because Luis is disabled and Antonio is not allowed to work in the country until his papers are filed they have been unable to gather the requisite fees to file the petition. Instead of a blender or a set of glasses please help Antonio and Luis raise the application fees so that they can finally live happily ever after.
