Lori's medical fund to beat cancer

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. In April of 2014, my sister was diagnosed with Granulosa Cell Tumor, the rarest form of ovarian cancer accounting for approximately 2% of all ovarian cancers. This diagnosis came just weeks before her wedding. She underwent surgery for removal of the tumors and was able to walk down the aisle as planned. 9 months later, she gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl!

After continuous cancer monitoring and under the direction of her doctors, Lori was advised to undergo a full hysterectomy as a precautionary. While in surgery, the surgeon observed that the cancer had spread and is now attacking her uterus, bladder, and abdominal wall. The surgeon chose to not proceed with the hysterectomy, but instead consult her oncologist for a different game plan.

So here we are... Lori will soon undergo a very intensive course of treatment to eradicate the cancer once and for all. Her doctors have indicated that they plan to attack this cancer very aggressively because she is a young mother and she is poised to win this battle! That said, it won't be easy and it won't be cheap. She will undergo multiple rounds of chemotherapy after the initial surgery. She will be on FMLA which affords her the right to keep her job, but doesn't pay for her insurance while she is on leave. Her insurance premiums are still due, as are the bills for her medical expenses.

My hope is that with a little help from everyone, we can all contribute to her recovery. I want Lori to be able to focus on her physical recovery without worrying about the financial burden. Please help if you can. Thank you.
