Stop the Cell Tower on Catharpin Road!

We are the Concerned Citizens of Gainesville, VA LLC (CCGVA).   

We are in opposition of the proposed construction of a 145' monopole cell tower at 5513 Catharpin Rd. , Gainesville, VA for the following reasons:

- We are trying to preserve the natural beauty and viewscapes of the rural area we live in called the Rural Crescent.  When construction of the sidewalk as part of the Red Fence Farm project gets underway, more trees along Catharpin Road will be removed making the tower more visible.

-We are concerned about the potential depreciation in our home values due to proximity of the proposed monopole cell tower to our homes.  Numerous reports have shown a potential loss in value of up to 20%.  That is a minimum loss of $30,000 per household! (based on $600k average value).

-The cell tower company has shown no need for a new tower as there are 13 other towers within 3.5 miles!  Why not fully utilize the existing towers instead of adding new towers in the area?

-The cell tower company does not have any contracts from service providers at this time.  They have asked for 5 years to utilize the tower.  At this point they will be constructing an empty pole.

Our campaign aims to raise the necessary funds to help defray the legal costs of defending our home values and beloved Rural Crescent.
