Bad Things Happen To Good People.

OUR STORY…
My name is Mike. My wife and I are very private people. So reaching out in this way is new to us.

We have built our life on meager means throughout our 36 years of marriage. Our dated house is more than mere shelter… it has been our home for the last 25 years.

An electrical fire forced us to spend our entire savings on repairs. Once completed, and the work inspected, I learned the “electrician” I hired was unlicensed and the repairs did not meet code. For the next year, I used a gas powered generator to provide for our basic electrical needs.

On a stormy night, a large tree blew onto the house, causing severe roof damage. With our savings gone, the house fell into further disrepair over time.

Concerned City Inspectors met with us and helped us realize that the house is truly unsafe and for our well-being, it was best that we move out of our home – the house, the neighborhood where we have built friendships, where we raised our kids. More than a house, we were leaving what has been our life.

THE MIRACLE OF CARING PEOPLE…

We live on my income as a pizza delivery driver – a job I have come to love over 20+ years, as my customers are like extended family. It is our only income due to my wife’s failing health, which prevents her from working, leaving her to spend her days at home… a home we no longer have.

Knowing we had to decide on our next move, I received a call from my wife while I was at work to say that “two ladies are here and they want to replace the roof.” Explaining that we did not have the money, I was humbled to learn that they wanted to help us at “no cost”. Realizing the house was beyond repair, these “angels on earth” got with the City and others who were touched by our story and willing to help.

They have found a perfectly good house that was going to be torn down for land that is needed for something else. The owner has offered this house to us if we can get it moved to our property. And our “angels” have been able to get other gracious individuals and companies to provide some of the necessary work at little or no cost. This started the process of getting us “back home”.

AT THE URGING OF GOOD PEOPLE…

All the help so far is a blessing from God. But even with thiir generosity, there will be a need to raise money to make this happen. Fees, permits, utility connections, and getting caught up on some delinquent taxes, create a cost that we simply don’t have the money for. A “Go Fund Me” account was suggested as a way to help us get back home.

As I said at the start, my wife and I are very proud and have always tried to be self-sufficient. Our goal in life is to be good parents and good neighbors, helping others where we can. These angels-on-earth who have been sent to help us have explained, “bad things sometimes happen to good people”. They tell us that we have friends, family and even folks we don’t know, who will be willing to offer a helping hand.

Our goal is $15,000. We are appreciative in advance for all who can help us reach this goal.
