Tina's Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected
On April 7, 2017, our 5th wedding anniversary, my beautiful wife and best friend, Tina, was diagnosed with (stage 3) breast cancer. This has been a shock to our family as Tina is not aware of any family members having had breast cancer. Since April 7, 2017, our lives have become a whirlwind of doctor appointments, picking up prescriptions, discussing treatment plans, and weighing our options.

What we know so far is that Tina has cancerous tumors in her breast and also in her lymph nodes, and we were recently told this is an aggressive cancer.

You can imagine the emotional toll this has taken, in just the past few days.  While we have told family members, close friends and our co-workers, we have yet to sit down with the two youngest Tina’s children (we have a combined family of five children).  Edward is fifteen and measures low on the autism scale.  We do not yet know how he will absorb this and the thought of telling Leah (9 years old) is just unbearable.

This week we will be learning more about Tina’s diagnosis and the treatment plan our doctor will recommend.  We do know that she may be facing a full double mastectomy and will be undergoing breast reconstruction surgery.  We also know that her treatment may include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

The financial burden of treating breast cancer is going to be a challenge for us as Tina will be off from work for days at a time.  I am currently working two jobs (one full and one part-time) and our 18 year old (who will be graduating high school this June) works a part-time job after school.

Tina is one of the strongest and most loving persons I know.  She is a giver.  Just ask for help and she is there.  That is why it is so important that right now, we do everything we can to help Tina keep a positive outlook and focus only on beating this disease.  She needs to concern herself only with staying strong and not worrying about medical, house and/or child related costs and expenses.

The support we have been receiving from our family members, close friends and co-workers has been overwhelming.  However, as supportive as they are, the medical bills and expenses are going to continue to add up.

This is why we have come to you through this fund.  Any donation you can give will be truly appreciated and will be used for all medical costs related to surgery and reconstruction and all treatment costs such as chemotherapy and radiation, prescriptions, bills and expenses that my paychecks may not fully cover, and any unforeseen costs associated with Tina’s treatment and recovery.

Please help us spread the word. We thank you with all that we are.
