Keeping ABREAST of medical debt...

I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer at a young age. My husband and I were about to start a family and instead this diaganoses occurred. After having a lumpectomy and a port installation I did two weeks of fertility where we created 3 strong embryos. Hopefully, the chemo will not destroy my baby making abilities, but just in case we have Han Solo, Elsa, and Chilly Willy on ice. This was not covered by insurance and so we took a loan out to cover that. Most of the meds were donated, thankfully. Now, our medical bills for the surgery, MRI, Echocardiograms, Ultra Sounds, Mammograms, bloodwork, chemotherapy and Herceptin are coming in. Although my deductable has been met for the year, the co-pays are insane! This is just the beginning too. Bills will be getting worse as the year goes on since I'll be doing the Herceptin (bio immune drug) for a year. Than another surgery to take the port out. We have set up payment plans for each of our bills as they come in. The money is needed any time since this is a year and a half long process. My husband and I had just started getting out of debt and were planning on beginning our family and possibly do some traveling, when this happend. We both work freelance and so it's very risky if either of us ends up unemployed. The money would go directly to bills. It would mean so much to be able to take the stress and burden of debt off of the stress and burden of going through treatments. It would be such a relief to not live with debt hanging over our heads forever.
