Help with ALS adapted home for Christie

Donation protected
Shortly after celebrating her 10th anniversary with Amy, our dear friend Christie was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. You can read more here:

http://www.alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html

The news of such a cruel disease is devastating for so many reasons. Most urgent, however, is that ALS will soon force Christie into early retirement (she’s been a state trooper for 15 years) and Amy is now preparing to eventually become a full-time caregiver. Even when disability kicks in, this little family will experience a significant drop in income, and will have to wipe out Christie’s 401(k) to pay for a wheelchair accessible van. That said, any funds that we can raise through this effort will help the family make necessary alterations to their current home (ramp, wheelchair accessible bathroom/bedroom, etc.). This is not just for Christie’s comfort, but also to provide their 5-year-old son, Cail, the stability that comes with staying in the home they love.

In closing, I can’t think of a more kind, strong, beautiful, and thoughtful friend than Christie, and even if you don’t know her and Amy, I can tell you that they are a gem of a couple and such amazing mamas to Cail. Please feel free to share this post and thank you for any and all contributions. Everything counts.

Thank you!
