Mora Is Injured And Needs Our Help

Donation protected
We got a call around 6:30 pm on Friday that two officers were out on location with an injured dog. They said she couldn't stand up and she needed medical attention. These two officers are our "dog guys" and knew if they were saying she needed help, she needed help.

Our ACO arrived back at work and found that they had already covered the dog in blankets and got her to fall in love with them. She couldn't walk, so the three of them got her on a stretcher into the vehicle to take her to Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove, driving with heat on full blast. When she got there and the techs brought a stretcher out to get the dog and she actually stood up and with a little help walked into the clinic and then had no more energy. Her body was so frozen that they couldn't get a blood pressure on her, she was so unstable. They did find fluid in her lungs and her abdomen, most likely from trauma, probably hit by a car juding on some scrapes on her. Because she was so frozen they could not tell really how she was doing otherwise. So she is going to be there the next 24 hours being warmed, given oxygen and monitored (also pain meds etc). When we were able to see her again- she had been under the heating blanket for about 45 minutes and her head and ears were still cool. They said her body temp had not budget at all. But she was alert and loving on the staff. The vet and vet techs had oxygen on her and the blanket, she was loving them and pawing at them.

In case we haven't said it before we love everyone at Veterinary Speciality Center. They have always given our animals amazing care with tons of compassion. They are the absolute best!!!! So she is in good hands. We don't know how she is going to respond and hope and pray as she warms up she will hopefully respond positively.

Our volunteers are going to be attempting to raise some money as the quote for the next 24 hours is going to cost $1500 to monitor Mora. This is just for the next 24 and once stable, so they can see the severity of her injuries.

Mora, our little girl was named after one of the officers who was out there with her. Mora was not chipped and we do hope that we can find family who is missing her. But for right now we will do all we can.

We will put the information up here when the volunteers put it together for anyone interested in donating.

If you need tax receipts please mail a check to: North Chicago Aninal Control 1850 Lewis Ave. North Chicago and put "Mora" in the note or donate directly to Veterinary Speciality Center for "Mora" on the North Chicago PD account and to please let us know. Their number is [phone redacted]

Otherwise donations are appreciated here.

Please send positive prayers and thoughts to this little angel.

Thank you.
