She chooses LIFE!

Hello Friends, Family and loved ones that are moved to make a difference.

My name is Nicole. I have decided to set up this Go Fund Me page for my mom, one of the most treasured people in my life. Her name is Diane Jacobson. She was diagnosed with breast cancer April of 2016.
In the month of October 2015 she was working on our new home with my husband when a 2x4 fell on her chest and left a deep bruise. As months went on she noticed a lump forming. She had believed the whole time that it was from the injury until she went in to her doctor to have it tested. She had a mammogram and was told that there was a mass but it was benign and was waiting to hear options of what needed to be done. We as a family had been praying and were so grateful that it was nothing more than that and looked forward to her being out of pain soon.
Her doctor then requested a biopsy to be sure of the diagnosis.
He called back less than a week later with the report. I will never forget that day...Mom and I were on the phone talking as I was on a long drive and she said hang on one second honey it's the doctor, I'll be right back. I waited on the other line, full of hope and waiting for the 100% relief. She clicked back over to me and said, "Well, Dr said it definitely is cancer." I said WHAT!? She repeated herself and we immediately went into prayer together. We didn't let emotion take over. We knew we needed to continue in faith.
Once we were off the phone I have to say I was in such disbelief of the report. The thoughts rolling in my mind were NO! NOT my mom, she's so giving, she lives like she's 30, she loves Jesus AND serves him, she lays down her life for a friend daily.
So much changed that day. I knew I was about to be refined and I really had to decide if what I believed about God's healing power and if it was for her. I knew she was facing the same. Will He heal ME? What are my next steps???
Within that week I got on a plane and went to be with her in Arizona. (She nannies my sister's baby there)
Her faith by the grace of God increased to carry her through this season and she asked a select group to pray with her in agreement for a miracle.
So much happened in the week that I was there with her. Our relationship was being healed, her relationship with other family members was being healed and her relationship with herself was being healed. God was so merciful. By the time we went in for her check up that week the Dr did an exam by touch and said, "Diane it definitely is not in your lymphatic system, I do not feel anything in your armpit or under your jaw." She then said, "Are you sure that the biopsy read that it had spread?" I cannot even begin to explain the faithfulness of our God. I was like YES! YES! YES!
At the same time because of the size of the lump in her left breast Dr said she would still like to start chemo in 2 days. I knew my mom was believing for more so I wasn't sure if she was ready to move forward with that decision. By the time Friday came and she sat in the chair to be administered chemo. I just kept looking at her like are we really here? Really doing this??? Only by the grace of God were we able to remain steadfast. My husband prayed and asked God that she would not lose her hair or have any ill effects from the chemo. She did really well the first round. She did not lose her hair, she had some mouth sores and she was slightly nauseous with one day of vomiting her dinner. God was faithful...again! Overall those 3 weeks she did very well. The best part of all of this that within the first week of treatment the lump that was 10 cm in size (like a lemon) was now 1.5 cm (like a pea) God had moved again mightily and we KNEW it. I researched and there wasn't much to be found about this level of result with a tumor that size with chemo. We praised God for what he was doing. When she called me with the good report we were all out golfing as a family. We jumped and screamed and thanked Jesus for what He was doing. God even gave me an embrace through a dear friend that moment who whispered in my ear...see, God does do miracles. I remember my body just falling to relax in him. (Thank you Mitchell, God used you that day to encourage me and help heal my heart).
Moving on, It was time for the second treatment. (This was 2 of 8 that they wanted to do every 3 weeks with radiation and surgery to follow) This time was extremely different. She became soooo ill and lost all of her hair. She wasn't able to move much for most of 9 days out of this 3 weeks and had no appetite the whole time. She shared with me that her faith was being challenged and she felt far from God. Excuse me...what!?! After all that God has been doing!?!? I knew that what this medicine was doing to her was wrong. I believe my mom has the gift of faith. For her to say those words stunned me, at the same time I knew she trusted me deeply to share that. These three weeks were terrible for her. For all of us.
Onto the 3rd round of chemo to be administered on her birthday Friday June 24. She called me that Friday morning and said she needed to talk to Dewey (my husband) and I. She shared that she had just gotten off the phone with a friend and something was said to her that got her thinking so deeply and wanted to seek God over the weekend about even going in for the third treatment. We supported her. She called the office and said she would come in the following Wednesday and wanted to see a surgeon. In the beginning her surgeon told her when and if it ever got small enough he would operate and she would be able to keep her breast. It was small enough. It was time. And the chemo was taking a toll. The staff responded to mom and told her that they would not operate until she had finished all 8 rounds of chemotherapy. This was challenging for her because she knew deep inside that she wasn't going to be able to continue treatment.
She made a decision after the weekend to no longer receive chemo. She felt it was killing her. She said it felt like poison in her body. She did not go in for her third treatment and she emailed her praying friends and again asked them to continue to believe for her healing. We were all in agreement. One close friend of hers even said to her, I was surprised you ever even had one treatment Diane. You've never liked putting anything in your body that wasn't good for you.
This began a new journey. There was even a point over the past few months that the lump was completely gone. We believed that morning that it was over! We cried and again praised God for what He did. A few short weeks after that it came back and grew to about the size of a nickel she said. It wasn't easy on her or any of us because it seemed to want to play on emotion and fear. BUT God. She was being trained to be a warrior and to fight for Truth. It has increased in size as of late and she has been experiencing pain in her back now. She has now decided to an seek alternative treatment to help build her immune system as she waits on God. We have researched and found the clinic we believe is right for her. This treatment is not covered by insurance and will need the money up front. We are praying to send her in about one week. She will need close to $20,000 for the treatment and $2000 for her stay at the hotel near the clinic for a 3 week stay. She spoke with the Dr today and he feels 3 weeks of 8 hour a day treatment should be enough but some have needed to stay for 6. If that would be the case she would need more than the initial request. I have attached the place she decided to seek treatment. It is called Immunity Therapy Center in Mexico. Dr Bautista will be the Dr caring for my mom during her stay. Will you please consider donating to her so she is able to move forward. I know how much you all love my mom. I have no doubt that these finances will come together for her. Thank you all for your support, prayer and love. Mom has a LONG healthy life to live and she's looking forward to her future!
