Get 5 acres of grapes trellised
Donation protected
BEYOND Vineyard and Winery, Vernon County, WI was begun in 2010 to demonstrate an alternative approach to producing local organic wine using a range of fruit including pears, peaches, plums, apricots, rhubarb, currants, elderberry and grapes. 5 acres of grapes were planted in the first couple years but were never trellised because of unforeseen setbacks.
The vines have been growing on the ground for 4-5 years and need to be recovered and established on trellises as quickly as possible. Funds are needed both for buying wire, hardware and black locust poles as well as to pay for the labor to cut back and train 2500 vines and get them growing upright rather than on the ground.
I'm hoping to use the winter months to raise necessary funds in time to start installing trellises in May 2017.
I'm grateful for any contribution, no matter how small. There are only a couple organic wineries in the upper midwest using their own estate grown fruit, and it is my hope to lay the groundwork for others who have a passion for doing the same.
