Dickie Nee was loved and admired by many. He could make anyone laugh with his witty jokes and unique sense of humor. It didn’t matter if you had met Dickie for a day or known him your entire life, he made you feel like family. And that was what mattered most to him, his family. He was a proud husband to Katie and an even prouder father to their seven children. He was blessed with the role of grandfather this May and flawlessly did so after watching his own father be a standup grandparent. Dickie showed his family what it meant to be selfless and trust completely in God. After many months of battling cancer, Dickie passed peacefully surrounded by his family on December 24th.

Dickie dedicated much of his life to advocate for children with special needs. Holding two close to his heart, his two youngest children, Annie and Coleman.  He raised money for research and ran in the Boston Marathon for the Rett Syndrome Team, never giving up faith that someday their will be a cure. Both Annie and Coleman are in wheelchairs because of their diseases. All money that will be raised will go to purchase a handicapped accessible van for these two.

The family is at peace knowing the Dickie is no longer suffering and is reunited with his son Seamus and brother Tommy. They are overwhelmed with the amount of support after his passing and the passing of his father, Thomas. Any size donation is greatly appreciated by the entire Nee family.

An update from Katie Nee:

Looking at this post again, I am reminded that we are surrounded by many kind, caring, and very generous people. Sounds like a cliche when I type that but I don't know where we would be without all of you. Please know that I sincerely mean that from the bottom of my heart. As you may notice, there were close to 500 donations to this fundraiser. This post was shared well over one thousand times. If I have not sent you a written note, please be assured that your donation did not go unnoticed. Every dollar was very much appreciated and I will never be able to thank you enough.

I feel it's important to let you all know that in addition to donations listed here, we received a substantial gift from a family that has chosen to remain anonymous. Because of their kindness and generosity, and because of all you, we were able to receive a brand new handicapped accessible SUV! Also, we have established a trust fund that will help with costs for many other items and services that will make life easier for Coleman and Annie and will allow me to keep them living at home as long as I am physically able.

I am still overwhelmed by all of this, and know that Dickie would be humbled by all of this attention. Although, I have to admit that I'm not surprised by the amount of people that share in our grief. He was the kindest and most generous man that ever walked on earth. I knew it and never doubted it. However, I'm realizing it more and more each day. He was exceptional with his acts of kindness. God broke the mold after he created Dickie.

Much love and heartfelt thanks to all of you again.

On behalf of the Nee family I would like to thank all of you for being so generous and supportive in this difficult time. Your generosity speaks volumes to what this family means to everyone and what Dickie meant to us all.

Patrick Nee, Dickie's son, will be creating an account on behalf of Coleman and Annie where all the money will be deposited to. This money can go to so many things for these two and the biggest being a handicap accessible van.

It's truly unbelievable how much has already been raised for Annie and Coleman! Please keep sharing the link and keeping all of the Nee's in your thoughts and prayers!
