Crofton First's nonprofit funding

Crofton First was formed in April 2006 after the Crofton News Crier printed an article about Wal-Mart wanting to build on land off of Route 3 that consisted of an undeveloped wetlands habitat. Word of mouth spread quickly to get community members in action, posting flyers and encouraging citizens to attend a meeting with the developers.
Only a few weeks after the one-year anniversary of Crofton First's formation, the news was released that we won the battle; Wal-Mart was no longer going to build in Crofton! At that same time, the board learned of fly ash contaminating drinking water of a section of Gambrills homes on well water. We immediately jumped in to help those citizens, and have since being staying abreast of all development in the Crofton and Gambrills, Maryland areas.

Now, in 2013, we need to raise money to cover our operating costs. We would like to stay as an entity in the community to watch the area that we refer to as the "ex-Wal-Mart land." This Fall, the businessman who owned the land during the Wal-Mart fight sold the land to a local developer. We want to serve the community to make sure that Wal-Mart doesn't come back! In order to do so, we need you help, as we do have mandatory annual fees for our corporation. Our board consists of all volunteers, so know your money will only go to true operating costs. Thank you for your generosity!
