Prayers for Paige
on behalf of Charles Winter
Today, a family’s life changed in a matter of seconds. A family day spent at the beach ended with a horrific shark attack. A 17 year old girl would have her life completely turned upside down. Due to the severity of the attack, amputation of the left leg above the knee was inevitable. As family friends, we sit here hoping we can do something that could bring just a tiny bit of relief that may assist with Paige’s road to recovery.

Charlie, Paige’s father, Marine, Firefighter, and Paramedic has served his Country and his community for the last 20 years. Now it’s time for us to rally around him and his family to help them in their time of need.

If you guys are able, please donate whatever you can to Charlie and Paige. No donation is too small and the funds will be used to assist in the many surgeries, physical therapy, prosthetics, recovery process, and Charlie’s missed days from work.

Lastly, We thank you all for the prayers and please continue to pray for this courageous, sweet, and beautiful soul. We will post updates at the parents discretion, as they too are trying to cope and process everything at the moment. GOD Bless!❤️

Update- Per Marcy Winter (Paige’s Mom) Paige is out of surgery and awake, she’s still pretty groggy but cracking jokes. She wants everyone to know that sharks are still good people.

Update- A message to all from Paige’s father Charlie.

Hey there all, breaking radio silence and wanted to say a few words. First off, thank you to absolutely everybody for the love and support you've thrown to Paige over the last month. She got knocked down but picked herself up in a way I didn't know someone could...I wish in many ways I was more like her. She's strong, determined, delightful, and optimistic all in one little package. She's got work to do, but so much has been done already. But it certainly means more than I can say to have so many people gather in her corner and nothing I type can express the love and gratitude to all of you. Another special shout out to Anais. You have stepped up and grown more in the last month than the 15 years you have behind you...and again I couldn't be prouder of you. If nothing else you've shown what love two sisters can have for each other and it leaves me speechless of both of you. I know I have a hard outer shell that you have to break down to get to the real me, and since its currently down, I want to repeat this again. I sincerely thank all of you from the deepest part of my heart and I CANNOT mean that enough. Anais will help me cook and make jokes again, Paige is going to dance and walk again, and I am still going to make a fool of myself in front of them just to get them to smile when they haven't even realized that they needed to. While I don't always appear to show it, just know in the core of me I will always mean it. Many heartfelt thank yous, a overwhelming amount of gratitude, and much love from me to you. Thank you all. So very very much. Its a wonderful world...

Dear Mike:

On behalf of the entire Havelock Fire-Rescue Department and in support of one of our very own, Havelock FF/Paramedic Charlie Winter, please accept this letter of gratitude for your recent contribution to cover all of the prosthetic and orthotic interventions for his 17 year old daughter, Paige Winter.

As you are aware, Paige was attacked by a shark at Fort Macon State Park -Atlantic Beach on June 2, 2019, as she was enjoying a day at the beach with family and friends. The seriousness of her injuries resulted in an above knee amputation of her left leg, along with serious injuries to her hands. Your generosity, kindness and support will make this long road to recovery much easier for Paige and her family. We cannot thank you enough for helping this amazing young lady overcome the challenges ahead.

Again, many thanks to you and East Carolina Brace & Limb for your thoughtfulness, love and support!
