World Masters - Lesley's Journey

I am excited to announce that I have been chosen to represent Canada at the 2017 World Masters in New Zealand (April). Having been retired from playing the game since 2009, I accepted this amazing opportunity to go for Gold! The game of Softball has been a big part of my life! For over 35 years I have played, coached and umpired this amazing sport. I am a certified NCCP Level 2 coach. A Level 4 Softball Canada Umpire, Pitching Coach and the Head Coach for the Port Perry Under 14 Fastpitch Team. I feel fortunate that Softball has given me the opportunity to travel the world, meet life long friends and personally strive for excellence. I feel so fortunate and love the fact that I can now give back to the sport that has been so good to me. When I received the call from Elaine Devlin (Head Coach) of the Canadian Free Spirits I was elated. "What an opportunity" I thought. "What an honour it will be to represent Canada on the World Stage!" In accepting this thrilling journey, I knew it would take a considerable amount of dedication and hard work and fundraising. Having said that, as a player we need to fund ourselves to the tune of $4,500. With your gracious donations the money will go on training, travel and lodging. I have a few months to get physically and mentally prepared in order to play the game on the international stage and ultimately represent Canada to the best of my abilities. I am looking for company sponsorship and donations. In return, I promise to promote my journey leading up to and including the games through social media and local papers.
