Emma's Journey

Donation protected
Every family has a journey, unique in their own way: This is Emma's Journey! Emma, who is now 9, started with headaches at the young age of 4.. but nothing compared to the severe migraines she started having this November, followed by her left eye turning in towards her nose. She was taken to an eye doctor who referred her to a Neuro Opthalmologist the very next day for an MRI. The doctor told her parents that her optical nerves were swollen and sent her to the pediatric ER the same day and ordered the MRI. They thought Emma had a "false tumor" also known as pseudotumor cerebri.
Emma has severe  anxiety and in order to do the MRI, she needed to be put to sleep, therefore, she was admitted overnight so they could do the MRI the following morning. The doctor found an actual tumor with a cyst and fluid on the left front of her brain. She was transported via ambulance from the ER to Le Boneur Children's Hospital that same night, miles from home. Upon arriving there were more MRI's.. more tests.. and then finally, brain surgery.
Emma was strong!! Anxious, but strong!! The doctor did her surgery on December 4 . He started by removing a piece of the tumor to send to pathology at St. Jude's to be tested. Once that was finished, they removed the rest of the tumor, a cyst and fluid with no complications!! The surgery took about 5 hours. She is now resting, recovering and working on healing so she can go back home.
We, however, are waiting for her results and pray the tumor is benign.  It could take up to 2 weeks to get the results back.
Throughout her journey her parents, brother, grandparents and the rest of our family have stayed by her side every second.

Emma was born Dec 14th, 2007. Her birthday is in a few days and Christmas is coming fast! Traveling from Alabama to Tennessee hasn't been easy for the family. There has been help  from several family members and friends, but sometimes extra help is needed. All donations will go towards the families travel, food, bills, birthday, Christmas and Emma's mom has a baby due in January!
Emma has been in the hospital since Wednesday, Nov 29th. Mom and Dad have stayed by her side ever since, unable to  work. I want to raise enough to get them into 2018 comfortably!

All donations are appreciated and we understand stand if you can't! But please share her story! Thank you in advance!!
