SPD Officer Dorr Assistance Fund

The most remarkable part about working for the City of Seattle as a Police Officer is being part of a community that rallies and supports all it holds dear. Whether it’s the Sounders winning the MLS Cup, the Seahawks winning the Superbowl or the Storm bringing home the championship the support and dedication our City displays is nothing short of astonishing. It is with great humility I now ask this great community to rally behind one of its own. My dear friend and fellow Police Officer was severely injured while working on-duty during the Sounders Victory Parade. I have had the pleasure of working with Officer Dorr from day one. We attended the academy together and were fortunate enough to get assigned to the same precinct and shift. Officer Dorr is the most selfless, supportive and dedicated Officers I have ever had the privilege of working with. He is a committed family man, prioritizing his wife and children over himself. In addition to working his normal shift hours, he works tireless overtime details as the sole supporter to care for his family of five.He was assigned as a bike officer to escort the Sounders team when an unexpected incident occurred when his leg got pinned underneath the trolley transporting the players. The degree of his injury is extensive; he suffered a compound fracture in his leg right above the ankle. Officer Dorr was fortunate to have a great team of medical professionals treat his injuries at HMC. Although the surgery went well, the road to recovery will be long and hard fought. During this time the Dorr family will endure a financial hardship. The overtime hours he routinely worked to support his loving family will not be available to him while he focuses on healing and rehabilitating his leg.Officer Dorr would never hesitate to give one in need the shirt off his own back. During this season of giving I humbly ask that you consider standing shoulder to shoulder with the Dorr family in support. If we come together as a community, we can ease the burden in which this family was unexpectedly forced to bear. No donation is too small, a little can go a long way. Please join me in supporting one of Seattle’s finest Officers.Respectfully Submitted,Officer Patenaude.
