Our story begins on November 6th, 2016. My fun-loving, jokester husband, Robert, was 28 days into a civilian deployment to Afghanistan with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Robert had only been "in country" for about 10 days, when he suddenly started vomiting, with no other symptoms. He visited the base clinic, where the doctor suspected a virus. That made sense, so the doctor treated it with anti-nausea medications for about a week with no relief from the almost constant vomiting. An EGD was performed, where a mass was discovered in his esophagus. Thru further scans, testing, and biopsies, it was determined that Robert has Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. Mind you Robert has NONE of the 'usual' risk factors for this cancer, so to say we were blindsighted is a gross understatement. After transfers to Germany, on to the States to Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland, then on to Little Rock, AR, Robert is home with family now. Since being home, Robert and I have been meeting with a wonderful surgeon and oncologist, who are working tirelessly to get Robert where he needs to be nutritionally, emotionally, and physically. We have a long uphill battle to fight, and with God's grace, we will win!! Several things have given us set backs physcially, and now we are facing increased financial burdens due to insurance exclusions. So many of you have already been very generous to our family in many different ways, and I say Thank you. Please know it pains both myself and Robert to be in a pickle, so to say, financially, but thats where we're at. Please be in prayer for Robert, for complete and total healing, and if you are able, please consider blessing our family with a donation to this medical fund. Thank you and God Bless!

It has been a while since our last update. Robert is still taking chemo, and it's rough on him, but he's doing pretty well(ish). He is still having difficulty keeping food down, so he will have to undergo another EGD on August 16th to check things out. The doctor said he may have to have this procedure fone every 6 months to a year...for the rest of his life! Oy!!

Please keep us in your prayers. Love to you all.

Bob started chemo on Monday of this week, and has been able to continue the regimen of 6 chemo pills a day so far...but he is having terrible nausea and vomiting again. He has reverted back to mostly just tube feeding for nutrition. Not sure if it's the chemo or the disease process at work here. Calls to the MD this morning. Pray for him...he's struggling. Thanks and God bless!!!

Today, we are back at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for Bob to have the temporary stent that was placed to help keep his esophagus open after the second big surgery back in March, removed.

Please be in prayer that this removal helps to improve his pain and increase his ability to take in (and keep down) food and medicine by mouth.

Please also be in prayer as Bob is due to start chemo again on Monday of next week.

Thank you so much for all of your support through kind words, through monetary help, or just through prayers. It is a true blessing to know we are not alone.

Well, after 9ish days in the SICU, Robert made a break for it...actually just went to the floor. Not sure when he will come home just yet. Strict nothing by mouth until next Wednesday-ish. May start liquids then. Spirits are good. Tired of course. Pain is controlled for the most part.

God is so good and has blessed us immensely. Thank you again for all the support and prayers.
