On November 16th, after a whirlwind of upheaval and other emotional events, I got into my little car packed full of my clothes and drove to Alexandria, VA. It was the right decision for what seems like the totally right job, but, wow, was the timing special.
At the beginning of August, I got laid off from my full-time day job. I was making a decent go of the freelancer life but when my grandfather died at the end of October, I spent a week with family and fell behind on my hustle. So my little savings account wasn't everything it could have been, much to my dismay.
Now I have scraped the bottom of that savings account and there are still movers to pay and a truck full of stuff to drive (and a much anticipated reunion with my husband and pets) and I am trying to hold my breath until my first paycheck on December 15th. In the meantime I have paid application fees, a pet deposit, a security deposit, a prorated amount of rent for November, and my first month's rent for December. All of that plus gas and food in different places (my great husband and pets are still in Florida, see that much-anticipated reunion), and I have spent about $6,000 so far.
Friends have suggested a GoFundMe several times over, so here it is. If you aren't able to contribute anything, don't worry! I love you! If you are able, I really super appreciate it.
Funds will be used to: pay for movers to load and unload the moving truck, for the moving truck Ed (the aforementioned great husband) will be driving, the gas for the truck, and for groceries so that we have food until I get paid. Anything extra will go toward paying off the debt I have taken on during the course of the move. Plus, of course, the usual fees associated with these sorts of things.
Again, I love you all regardless - this isn't a transactional friendship. But this is me learning how to ask for help.
