3 Year Old Isaias's Cancer Story

Isaias Rodriguez started 2018 like any other 3 year old boy: excited to start school, explore the world around him and play with his older brother and friends.
However, as the beginning months of the year progressed, his family noticed Isaias was not his normal self. He soon began feeling sick, vomiting and losing the control of the right side of his body. Multiple doctor visits yielded unanswered questions.
Finally, on June 2, Isaias was taken to Lurie’s Children Hospital and was admitted after finding a large tumor on his brain stem. From that moment on, their future and plans forever changed.
On August 16th, Isaias underwent surgery to remove the tumor.
The Rodriguez’s strong faith and family bond oversaw Isaias’s recovery from surgery as they awaited results of the tumor. Isaias endured multiple hours of rehab, loss of his voice and his once natural, fun energy was nowhere to be seen. Their worst fears were confirmed when the results came back: brain cancer.
We would like ask you to take a minute and think of any child in your life, your own son or daughter, your niece or nephew, your cousin, your granddaughter or grandson or even a close family friend. Now imagine them when they were 3 years old. Remember their care-free attitude, remember their smile and laughter, remember picking them up when they ran to fast and tripped over their own feet. Remember them calling your name when they were scared or sad. Remember how much they needed you and how much you needed them. This is Isaias.
Isaias started his first round of chemo on October 23rd at Lurie’s Children Hospital. He has since been readmitted to the hospital on November 1 due to a low platelet count and is undergoing a blood transfusion.
His family is doing the same exact thing any of us would do, they are by his side every step of the way. Unfortunately, as we all know, the world around us does not stop. Hospital bills, travel expenses, time away from work and everyday expenditures quickly pile up.
We ask, if you are able, to help out the Rodriguez family at this time. Any amount helps. All funds will go directly to 3 year old Isaias’s care.

Isaias Rodriguez empezó el año 2018 como cualquier otro Niño de 3 anos; emocionado por empezar el Nuevo año escolar, explorar el mundo y jugar con su hermano mayor y amigos. Sin embargo, en los primeros meses del año su familia empezo a notar que Isaias no era el mismo. Empezo a sentirse mal, vomitando y perdiendo el control del lado derecho de su cuerpo. Despues de multiples visitas al doctor, no encontraban nada.
Por fin, el 2 de junio Isaias fue internado en el Lurie’s Children Hospital después de que encontraran un tumor grande en su cerebro. Desde ese momento sus planes y su futuro cambiaron para siempre. El 16 de Agosto operaron a Isaias para removerle el tumor.
La familia Rodriguez se mantuvo unida y con mucha fe durante la recuperacion de Isaias después de su operación, mientras esperaban los resultados del tumor. Isaias estuvo mucho tiempo en rehabilitation, perdio la voz y su energía natural que solía tener. El peor miedo fue confirmado cuando los resultados dieron positivos a cancer en su cerebro.
Queremos que tome un tiempo y piense en algún Niño en su vida, su propio hijo/a, sobrino/a, un primo/a, un nieto/a oh hasta un amigo cercano. Ahora imagínense con 3 años de edad. Recuerden su inocencia, su sonrisa, recuerden cuando los cargaban, cuando corrían y se tropezaban con sus propios pies. Recuerden cuando llamaban su nombre porque tenían miedo oh simplemente estaban tristes. Recuerden cómo ellos los necesitaban a ustedes y cómo ustedes los necesitan. Este es Isaías.
Isaías empezó su primer paso por quimioterapia el 23 de Octubre en el Lurie’s Children Hospital. El primero de Noviembre fue internado de nuevo por un conteo bajo de plaquetas en la sangre y le harán una transfusión de sangre.
Su familia está haciendo lo mismo que cualquier otra familia haría. Están a su lado en cada paso. Desafortunadamente, como todos sabemos el mundo sigue girando a nuestro alrededor. Biles del hospital, gastos de gasolina, tiempo fuera del trabajo cada día se siguen acumulando.
