**Update**
Eddie gets to come home today (3/30/17) after being hospitalized for 4 days. The vet bill was $500 more than originally anticipated due to the extra medications and care he was given. His levels for potassium and electrolytes have come back up and he appears to have more energy than before we took him in. He also seems to be able to maintain his body temperature for the most part, but we will continue to monitor that and are looking into a heating pad for him to have at home. Eddie is still not eating on his own, but has in the last 2 days, taken to liking the syringe feedings and is licking at the syringe instead of it having to be truly 'force' fed. His liver made a very minor improvement and is continuing to function at a low level, leading the Vet to believe that liver desease has taken hold of our little Eddie. We will learn how to prepare his food and about his new medicines tonight when we pick up him and make another update at that time.

We are Eddie's family and he has been with us since he was 6 months old & has grown up with our daughter. This week we found out that his seizure medicine is causing his liver to decrease in function, making him sick. Through being sick, Eddie has lost 2 lbs and his electrolytes and potassium, as well as other vital nutrients are very low. The vet has a plan to save him, but it requires a very intense fluids and medications IV, along with a liver friendly diet change and 3 days of hospitalization. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery if he can get the help he needs, we just simply can't afford the cost.
