SCREWED BY THE VA

My husband is a decorated war veteran, wounded in Afghanistan serving with the Nevada National Guard, earning the Purple Heart. Once back on his homeland it felt as if we were tossed aside by our country and government that he fought for. It has been an uphill battle with Veterans Administration since the beginning and took over 2 years to get his benefits started and that was only after our State Senator, Dean Heller had intervened. We cannot imagine where we would be without his help.

If we did not have “Bad Luck” we would have no luck at all. All of this could not have happened to us a more dire time. My husbands hours were drastically cut and cut at a time when we were already stretched thin and far beyond our means living hand to mouth and getting further and further behind on our daily bills and medical expenses.

We recently received a letter from the VA stating that there had been an over payment stating that they would be withholding his benefits from May til July. Now we are in a position to where we will not be able to pay our rent for 3 months. They stated that they made a clerical error, but in the end it is us who will pay for their mistake, and we will pay dearly with our livelihood, security, and wellbeing. We are battling with them and have written a hardship letter with zero response from them. We need a response from them yesterday and are living on borrowed time.

At the moment I am unable to work due to a disability and yet have not been able to claim any assistance/disability benefits.

My husband is a proud man, loves his god, and loves his country. We are struggling each and every day. We are kindly asking that if you could spare a few dollars then please donate them to us. Every dollar, every dime, every penny helps in ways that you cannot imagine. We are in fear everyday of being homeless with nowhere to go.
