How we help RJ:
West Island Citizen Advocacy (WICA) is a nonprofit organization located in the west of Montreal, Quebec. Our charity number is 119085983RR0001.
We recruit and match volunteers. Our clients (our protégés) can be people with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, seniors, people with mental health issues or people who are socially isolated. We offer a Defense of Rights service that helps people obtain help in negotiating the social services system, work through government bureaucracy, mediate in family matters, and help with bill payment problems, among other things. We also have a low income housing project for adults with mental health issues.
Austerity measures have hit WICA and because of them we are having a hard time funding all of our programs. We need funds to continue doing what we and to continue helping people like RJ.
West Island Citizen Advocacy has been a staple of the community since 1976 and we want to continue helping the most vulnerable members in our community.
