Shane's Journey

Shane is the person who's smile and positive attitude spreads anywhere and everywhere he goes. Shane is only 19 years old, but has gone through more than most 19 year olds can imagine. He had a kidney transplant after undergoing many months of tests and doctor visits for him and different family members, and finally a match was found. His cousin Jeremy gave Shane his kidney on July 13, 2010.
Until the end of April and beginning of May 2013, his health has been perfect except his Crone's Disease. Shane and his family received the news through a biopsy that his kidney failed.
He spent six days in the hospital where he got a temporary hemodialysis catheter followed by a hemodialysis catheter in his chest, so he can be on dialysis until he can get a new kidney transplant. His kidney was removed on May 1, 2013 and on May 21st, he is going to get a PD catheter put in his stomach so that he can be on mobile dialysis which will allow him to live a more normal life and he can do dialysis by himself. He is excited to be done with Hemodialysis!
We pray that he can get a new kidney transplant soon and like Shane always says, "You never know the good in life until you experience the bad."
