Hello my name is Monica and I am a survivor of domestic violence.    First, I want to say thank you for reading my story and for helping me any way you can. It is extremely hard for me to swallow my pride and ask for help but the reason I'm asking is to start over from losing everything I had due to abuse. One year ago I became unable able to work due to my Lupus, as a result became homeless . At the time a very distant family member reached out to me and offered to help and a place to live. This became my worse nightmare. From the very start my cousin made me her slave, every task I was given she viewed as a complete failure and I was treated as "something" to abuse. After three months of emotional, mental and physical abuse I was caught trying to leave, I was then thrown into a basement with my dog, no food, water or light. Meanwhile being constantly abused on a daily basis. All I had was my faith, God kept me alive and I was rescued about four months later after finally getting the doorknob off. When I was found I was black and blue everywhere, two broken ribs, fractured eye socket, a huge hematoma in my abdomen and had lost 68 pounds. I now have permanent damage to my back, neck, vision and kidneys. I suffer from PTSD and extreme social anxiety. I've worked very hard with doctors,  therapists and my therapy dog to have made the progress that have thus far but I had to file for disability. Which can take a long time to get approved for. I have been living in abuse shelters since my rescue. Now with the help of section 8 I am close to being able to have my own apartment. But I need help in paying for deposits, getting utilites started and to possibly buy a used car to get a part time job to cover my house hold expensives.  I want to be independent and live a happy life free from abuse and the aftermath that follows.  I would also like ( if there is enough donations) to make a donation to the domestic violence shelters that helped me, and so many other woman that have suffered from abuse during this difficult journey in our lives. The Bible says God blesses you to bless others! So your gifts will be helping not only me but others who have been affected by abuse.
