Más Allá de mi Comunidad
Acabo de regresar a casa y vengo super motivada a ayudar a cumplir el sueño de mis amigos.
Una vez al año, invitamos a nuestros niños lectores destacados a salir de la comunidad donde viven.
Durante el viaje a la ciudad pretendemos, no solamente premiar la perseverancia, sino además ampliar su universo, para que conozcan la realidad para la que deberán prepararse si desean superarse intelectualmente.
Es hermoso notar su emoción y caritas de asombro al darse cuenta de que el mundo continúa luego de las cercas que rodean nuestra comunidad al visitar los sitios programados, iniciando el la Feria Internacional de Libro en Guatemala, también programamos visitas a una estación de bomberos en donde disfrutan de una merienda y paseo en camión de bomberos; vamos a ver una obra de teatro, visita al Mapa en Relieve, tour por la ciudad. Este año, además iremos a la playa.
En el año 2013 llevamos 4 niños y en el 2014 llevamos un total de 32 y en 2015 llevamos 70.
En julio de 2016 nuestra meta es llevar 70 niños. Los gastos completos de un niño, por el viaje de 3 días es de Q. 625.00 o US$80, incluye, traslados, hospedaje, comidas, ingresos a parques, teatro, cine, compra de un libro y viaje a la playa. El viaje será el 15, 16 y 17 de julio.
Puede patrocinar un viaje completo, la mitad de un viaje o la cuarta parte de este.

BEYOND MY COMMUNITY
I just came back home from Guatemala and I feel highly motivated to help my friends.
Once a year, we invite our most outstanding readers to explore outside their community. Most of these children have never left their villages.
The purpose of this trip to Guatemala City is not only to reward their perseverance, but also to open their vision and perception, so they get to know “the real world”, the reality for which they have to prepare if they want to improve and succeed intellectually.
It’s wonderful to see their awe and excitement when they realize there is a hugh world beyond our community.
The journey to the city starts with a visit to FILGUA, the “International Book Fair in Guatemala” where they get to explore worldwide authors, and they also get to purchase a book. Afterwards, we go to a Firemen Station where they enjoy a snack and a ride on a firemen truck. Then we get to attend a theater play and also visit one of Guatemala City attractions, the Mapa en Relieve (Relief Map of the whole country, with all of its gorgeous volcanos, lakes, rivers and cities).
This year, we are also going to the sea, which we are sure will by far, blow their minds and be a memorable experience, for none of them has seen the ocean.
On 2013 we took four children on this trip. On 2014 they were 32, on 2015 we took 70, and on 2016 our goal is to take 70.
This year’s trip will be from July 15 thru July 17. The expenses per child for the 3-day trip are Q.625 or US$80. This includes transportation, lodging, meals, fees to the theater and the map, trip to the sea, and the purchase of a book.
If you wish to be part of this life-changing experience for a child, you can sponsor one full trip, half trip or even a fourth part of a child’s trip.
