Music of Changes Summer Festival
We are organizing a summer music festival in Brussels, which will serve as the launching point for our new concert series, Music of Changes.
The name of our series comes from John Cage’s famous piano work of the same name. It encompasses our philosophy of a series that is ever-evolving and juxtaposes old and new works in thematically-oriented programs.
Our inaugural two-day festival will take place at Art Base, a venue in the center of Brussels, from July 9th-10th, and will focus on pieces written during the first world war - since it is the 100 year anniversary - in addition to pieces by contemporary Belgian composers: a then and now perspective.
We will be bringing together musicians from around Belgium as well as from the Netherlands and Germany.
Our roster includes:
Elina Buksha, violin
E. Kendra James, viola
Chelsea Lane, harp
Michael Noble, piano
Daniela Rodo, piano
Dejana Sekulic, violin
Caroline Simon, flute
Natasha Young, soprano
Jurrian van der Zanden, cello
We will be perfoming the following pieces over the course of the festival:
"Pie Jesu" - Lili Boulanger
"War Songs" - Charles Ives
"3 Haikus" - Annelies Van Parys
"Die Eiserne Brigade" - Arnold Schoenberg
"Piano Trio in A minor" - Maurice Ravel
"Prélude" - Claude Ledoux
"To Gratiana Dancing and Singing" - William Denis Browne
"V ..." - Claude Ledoux
"Les Moutons de Panurge" - Frederic Rzewski
"Cello Sonata, H. 125" - Frank Bridge
"Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp" - Claude Debussy
We need your help to make our festival a success. Your donations will be used to compensate the performers, rent equipment, purchase scores, and advertise the concerts.
We hope that with your generosity, we will be able to inaugurate Music of Changes this summer.
Thank you!
