My life has been one hell of a journey.
But my FTM transition has been, thus far, the most life changing and fulfilling for me.
But...also frustrating!
Top surgery. It's vital.
You don't feel whole without it. But it's expensive! So, us trans guys bite the bullet and don one of the most uncomfortable and restrictive garments ever made: The binder. It's not only uncomfortable, it's unhealthy. Binding restricts air to the lungs and blood circulation and can cause asthma (which it has for me). Then there is the restriction itself. The body assumes you're being crushed to death, no matter what you tell it and cortisol levels in the body begin to rise. If kept constant, these stress hormones can raise blood pressure and chances of developing Osteoporosis. Fun huh?
What is the cost of surgery? $7500
if I pay in cash. $8333 it's I use the office's financing. That second number does not include the exorbitant financing fees or high interest rates. Neither number includes being out of work for 2 weeks.
And so, here I am....
It's taken courage to get here, and even more to ask for funds, but I know it will all be worth it... with your help :-)
