New Family Vehicle

Donation protected
My husband and I are the parents of a beautiful 15 month baby boy. Recently my husband was in a horrible accident, which totaled our car. Luckily my husband was not seriously injured, however it was our only vehicle. My husband was very sick running a 102 degree fever and went to work anyway that day. They sent him home on his way home from work, a Ford truck was tailgateing him despite his going the posted 55 mph speed limit. The truck then went around him and breakchecked him. My husband swirved to avoid collision and rolled the car twice. There was no baby in the car, but we have baby on board signs posted. The truck took off and did not stop to render aid. A few others stopped to make sure the baby was ok, and answered questions for the police upon discovering that their was no baby at that time. My husband was taken to the emergency room. I received a call and was frieghtened he was injured with major damage. I called friends to come and watch the baby and take me to the hospital.

After learning he was okay and verifying he did not have a concusion I called the insurance company they refused to provide us any compensation as their was no third party vehicle. We beleived we had full coverage insurance, but as it turns out we only had liability. The towing service stated they would give us no scrap money for the car, but if we hand over the title we don't have to pay for anything either. We can not afford a new vehicle at this time as we are a young family just starting out. I work from home as a freelance writer and do some part time work with instacart on the side. My husband makes enough money to cover bills at his job as a sushi chef.

We are looking into all of our options. I was planning to go get my teaching certification online, but with the issue of the car and no transportation my husband and I are at a loss for what to do.  Our plan for any and all money that we raise is to put it towards a new vehicle and carseat for our little one. With a vehicle my husband can continue working and I can return to my plan of getting my teacing certification.

Anyone who knows us understands our lives have not been easy we had roommates in the past who took off with our money we choose not to have roommates after that. We are very trusting and kind people this has hurt us we are working on getting our finances together and before the accident excluding my student loans were about $8000 in the hole. We want to use any money we get here towards getting a new vehicle so we do not accidentally end up further into that hole. We need funds for a new vehicle as soon as possible.
