Paul's Medical Fund

Since June of 2013, Paul Harrison has suffered from innumerable and, so far, unexplainable medical illnesses. Just to name a few:

·         12 staphylococcus infections

·         4 MRSA infections

·         4 colorectal infections

·         frequent pneumonia

·         recurring fast heart rate

·         high blood pressure

·         fevers

·         bone pain

·         over 60 kidney stones

Paul’s medical condition has all too often interfered with his work, schooling, domestic duties and overall quality of life. While physicians have struggled to keep up with treating Paul’s symptoms with antibiotics and surgeries, to date no medical professional has been able to identify the root cause of his vast ailments.

There has been a recent turn of events, however: due to the unusual nature of Paul’s medical situation, he has been accepted to Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN. He and Gretchen will be leaving October 24th and could be staying for a week or longer while Paul undergoes a series of tests and meets with a number of medical experts. A diagnosis has never before been so likely and we remain optimistic that successful and comprehensive treatment will accompany a diagnosis.

While Paul and Gretchen have remarkably managed to stay afloat financially so far, Mayo will be far and away their biggest financial challenge yet. Paul’s insurance will only cover 80% of the total medical expense incurred and it is only too likely that the 20% left will amount to a small fortune.  This is without mentioning the incidental costs of their stay in Rochester, any childcare expenses for their children while they are away and any other unforeseen travel expenses.

It would be such a relief to attach a name to this illness and enjoy the hope of fast and successful treatment as a result. To that end, we thank you for considering helping ease the financial burden Paul and Gretchen face as they move on this opportunity to free Paul from this mysterious illness.
