Hi Everyone,

Scott Golike is a humble, wise, loving man whose life has truly impacted countless other lives. He and his precious family have sacrificially served in church ministry for decades. From being a loving husband to Roberta and father of three, to being beloved “papa” to his grandkids, to faithfully preaching the Scriptures, to being there for people in their darkest and best days, to mentoring young men, to coaching youth, to travelling twice a year to minister in India, there are just so many ways that Scott has served God in humble and wide reaching ways. Those who know Scott appreciate his kindness, his knowledge and wisdom, his humor and friendship.

Now we have an opportunity to bless Scott and his family as they walk through a difficult season ahead.

On Friday, September 30th, Scott suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke. He was rushed by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center (the Seattle area’s level 1 trauma hospital and a world class stroke treatment facility). He underwent emergency surgery to clear bleeding from his brain. He spent days in the ICU before being moved to another floor for longer term care. During this process, Scott contracted pneumonia, which is making it difficult for him to breathe. He is struggling with speech and mobility. And it is unclear what he will recover and when.

Roberta and his family has remained steadfastly by his side. The recovery process will likely be long and slow. The family is resting in God’s love and sovereignty as they face this trial. They are grateful for the prayers and well wishes of friends from all over the world who have expressed their support and love.

The family’s current needs are firstly for prayer—for Scott’s recovery and for strength and peace for all of them in the long journey ahead.

Also, the financial cost of this long term injury is likely be extensive. Already, there are costs for the family to be by Scott’s side—such as traveling to the hospital, parking in downtown Seattle, gas, meals, etc. Soon, the emergency medical bills from Harborview will start coming in, and then there will be bills for long term care. There will also be costs associated with making the Golike home suitable for the special needs of a survivor of stroke.

So many have asked for tangible ways of being able to bless and contribute to the physical needs of the Golikes. To this end, we as friends of the Golikes, are setting up this Go Fund Me site. This will allow us to bless our beloved friends with funds that they can use in whatever way they find most helpful as they concentrate on Scott's recovery.

Gift cards are another great way to help. Also, the family has appreciated the encouraging notes and cards they have been receiving and reading to Scott.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and contributions!
