Michigan Refugee Assistance Program (MRAP) is a student-led organization that is dedicated to assisting recently resettled refugees in the Ann Arbor area. Through a partnership with Jewish Family Services, a local refugee resettlement agency, MRAP acts as a liaison between refugees and University of Michigan students, allowing students opportunities to work with refugees hands-on through several opportunities afforded by Jewish Family Services. Michigan Refugee Assistance Program's primary goal is to assist refugees in the Ann Arbor area, while also using their platform to raise awareness about the current displacement issue through advocacy and educational initiatives.
The refugee crisis may seem distant; however, Michigan has accepted the largest amount of refugees, and they are in need of assistance. Many of these refugees arrive in Michigan without even a bed to sleep on. We hope to provide these individuals with the essentials to assist them in beginning their new lives. By donating money to MRAP, you will help fund groceries, household appliances, basic toiletries, furniture, and many more items imperative to individuals’ need to sustain themselves. Additionally, a small percentage of the money will go to cover operational expenses of our student organization, as well as gas for volunteers. This is the biggest humanitarian crisis of our time, and we need YOUR help. As there will be a 50% increase in the amount of refugees being resettled in Washtenaw County starting this month, the funds are needed now more than ever. We would greatly appreciate any and all donations!
