Dyer Family Emergency Fire Fund
Due to the drought, and an initial lack of water for the local volunteer fire departments, their house was completely destroyed. They lost everything but the clothes on their backs.
Keith, Gemma and their sons are an incredible part of the community. Those who know them, know they would give the shirts off their backs to lend a hand to someone in need. Now it's them who need our help during this difficult time.
As you can imagine, the cost of a place to stay while their home is repaired and replacing everything will be significant and the need for it immediately. Funds will go toward housing and all other basic necessities.
I'm sure many can relate and empathize with what the family is going through right now. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Here's the local paper's story on the fire:
Thank you to everyone that has reached out to Gemma and I over the weekend- we can't say how overwhelmed we are with all of the details there are in getting our family back on track after this incredible ordeal. However, knowing we have friends, family, neighbors and our parish behind us has made the past 4 days bearable. I also want to thank the members of all of the firefighting teams that came to our aid. In the verbiage above, it might seem that there wasn't water trucks available to fight the fire- that wasn't so, all that my brother was pointing out was that with the drought, the nearby pond that water could usually be pumped out of was dry and unavailable.....I just want to make it clear that my whole family is so in debt to the men and women that risked their lives to save my property and that of my neighbors. I understand there were 3 firefighters hurt....you have my heartfelt thanks and admiration. I'll try to make it up to all of the firefighters in the near future as my family begins to get back on our feet. Until then- thank you one and all. Keith And Gemma Dyer
To all of my friends, neighbors, and colleagues- thank you one and all. My family is going through an uncertain time, but we are strong and with your help, we will make it back. I can't believe the support we have had from our closest friends, neighbors, parish, and family. Probably most humbling is the the monies donated from families that we don't even know- but that either knew us or just stepped up because we are residents of Wantage. I live in a community that I love and I'm very appreciative of the community.
Keith, Please reach out if you need anything. Jason just made a batch of homemade chili and we have meatballs and sauce from my Mom if you and Gemma would like a home cooked meal. Our door is open for you. -YouKristi & Jason

On 10/6 I left my home at 1:20pm. My neighbors had a fire going and they thought they had put it out. The wind blew ashes to home. We lost everything in the fire and we need whatever support anyone can offer. Also i have two children that lost eveything. They are 6 and 8 years old.Due to the lack of water for the local volunteer fire departments, our house was completely destroyed. We lost everything but the clothes on their backs. Thanks in advance for everyone's support. Right now we would benefit greatly from gift cards that we can use for food or clothing. But if you have anything you’d like to send, any donations of any kind, we will get it. The Address to send it to is here: carol Gibson 10955 quinley Rd Bayminette al 36507 God Bless you Thank you Carol and Daniel
