We are hosting this fundraiser for Safe Homes for Children-Casa de Sion as a THANK YOU to our amazing LuLaRoe founders Mark and Deanne who show us every single day that thru generosity, kindness and love we can change the world. My sister Minessa and I were able to visit the orphanage in Guatemala along with many other leaders in LuLaRoe and we were just so moved by the love and sacrifice each and every person working there has made to give these children a chance for a better life. we hope that we can raise a substantial amount of money so they can continue this important work, in the country that Mark and Deanne took us to, and allowed us the chance to serve.
About Casa De Sion-
Casa De Sion has an orphanage that is providing a safe home and loving care to 20 children, ages 1-13. We hope to add 30 more children in the next year. These are children who have been abandoned or could not stay safely with their biological family.
Casa de Sion runs vital community programs. The idea for the community programs came as parents were trying to drop their children off to live in our orphanage because the children in the orphanage were receiving clothing, education and 3 meals a day. All things that these families could not provide for their children. We know that the best case situation for children is to be raised by loving parents if possible, so we started community programs in the area surrounding our orphanage to help these families provide for their children.
The school day ends at noon for elementary kids in Guatemala. We invite the kids to our place for a three-hour program that includes a healthy lunch and tutoring every day after school. Middle school and high school are not free in Guatemala, and many families cannot afford to send their kids past elementary school. Casa de Sion offers full scholarships to over 68 middle and high school students (and have a waiting list) so that they have a chance to achieve their dreams and raise themselves and their families out of poverty.
Many mothers are so malnourished that they are not able to breastfeed. We offer a weekly lunch and parenting class for mothers and their toddlers 5 and under. We provide supplemental formula where needed for infants and incaparina (a vitamin fortified drink) for the toddlers to help their brains develop property at this important stage in their lives.
We also offer clothing, shoe, and toy distribution for everyone involved in our programs.
Casa de Sion welcomes volunteer teams. We host many medical, dental and other kinds of volunteer teams who provide the orphanage and surrounding communities which much needed health care. Volunteer experts teach marriage and family classes, life and trade skills so that families may learn to provide for themselves, preform plays and so much more.
