Griffin Family

My name is Jeannie OBrien and I am writing to raise money for my friends Mark and Judy Griffin, who are going through a rough patch in their lives.  He was hit from behind while sitting at a red light when he was taking his son to school.  Both sustained inujuries from the impact.  Riley has done two rounds of physical therapy and from all indicators is ok for now.  Mark on the other hand, has sustained a neck injury requiring surgery, possibly two surgeries.  He has been through multiple cervical nerve block injections in his neck and a cervical nerve block shot.  He has been in physical therapy over the past 9 months and he has also attempted acupuncture treatments.  All this concluding with 2 different neurosurgical consultations both advising him of the same outcome.  He needs to have his cervical vertebrae C3-6 opened up to widen his spinal canal than have all 4 fused together. 
Although the driver who hit them had insurance and Mark carries and underinsured policy.  The driver at fault does not have insurance to cover the cost of surgery and loss of income.  Marks policy has also proven useless in this situation.  The driver also has no assets to go after.  Mark has been advised by his attorney that there is just not enough. 
The Griffins have been hit hard with medical bills and their credit is being destroyed along with it.  Thankfully they have Kaiser Insurance through Judy's work so the surgery can happen.  The hurdle they can't overcome is the fact that Mark is self employed as a hair stylist.  He does not have access state disability nor does he have sick pay.  The recovery time for just one of the surgeries is going to be 3  months  with 2 months completely out of work.  Without any income for those 2 months and with all of the medical co-pays for the surgery and aftercare/therapy..Mark will not be able to provide for his family and cover their montly expenses.  He is faced with having to continue paying rent to his salon to secure his space for his return. 
This financial situation is preventing Mark from being able to schedule his surgery and recover from this terrible experience.  I am hoping that with the gift of support from their family, and friends that love them, we can all come togther to help them through this rough time. 
The minimum they would need to catch up on current bills and to cover the expenses that Judy's income and hard work alone could not cover is roughly $10,000.  This would help them with the surgical co-pay, the recovery period and the mecial expenses to follow.  Plus cover his loss of income and household expenses and it would also secure Mark's return to his workplace.
