Last evening, one of our amazing Pittsburgh hockey families lost their home, all of their possessions and their beloved family dog in a devastating house fire in Mt. Lebanon.
Miraculously, Kari, Dave and their children, twins McKenzie and Meghan (13), Ashlyn (12) and Amanda (7) made it out safely but they will be facing overhwhelming financial and emotional challenges in the coming weeks.
The King family is a vibrant part of our Pittsburgh hockey community and in times of need, the hockey community always rallies to help its own no matter what jerseys we wear! Together, the Arctic Foxes, Mt. Lebanon Hornets, SHAHA and Pens Elite are streamlining our efforts to help the King family, please consider helping in the following ways:
1) Please consider making a donation to help the King family in the coming weeks. Every dollar raised will go directly to help the family with their immediate needs and struggles to replace what has been lost. Insurance never fully covers what has been lost in a home fire and funding is very slow. The Kings need help now!
2) Immediate physical needs include hockey equipment and clothing for the girls. Drop off locations with boxes for equipment and clothing will be hosted at:
-UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex
-RMU Island Sports Center Rink
-Mt. Lebanon Ice Center Rink
3) The King family girls are in immediate need of clothing in the following sizes:
-Mackenzie and Meghan - Adult Small
-Ashlyn - Girls size 10/12
-Amanda- Girls size 8/10
4) Gift cards for Giant Eagle, Target, or local restaurants will also be a huge help for the family and can be mailed to:
