Our Rae of Sunshine Medical Expense

Donation protected
Rae update: Rae moved with her family to a new state and this move brings its own challenges. Rae will need to travel about 5hrs away from their new home to find a new medical team which means more tests. While adjusting to new allergens, she continues to struggle with immune difficulties. She just started kindergarten with an intense health plan to keep her the healthiest possible in school. Rae has shown some pretty serious regression in the last few months. She is unable to swallow many foods and has begun aspirating fluids again. She has also shown new speech difficulties. This is what causes recurrent pneumonia and has her hospitalized when she can not clear her lungs due to the already present layer of mucous. She had an MRI on the brain stem to see if there was a cause to her regression (This MRI was denied by insurance). She will continue to have new neurological work-ups with a new medical team. National Jewish continues to work hard on her case with studying her genetics and blood to see if there is an answer that ties it all together. (Immune, GI, respiratory, neuro, etc.)
Her medical team has prepared the family for Rae to get very sick this winter with the new environment. With the travel for medical teams, and the unknown of the future, Rae's mommy will not be working in their new state so she can focus on Rae's health. Her mommy is also having mastectomy reconstruction surgery two days after Christmas.
Rae started ballet class, as her parents believe letting her do things that make her happy is important, even if hard. She becomes tired easily on some days.
The family continues to try new medications, new treatments, and seek new solutions for Rae's comfort. She continues to be treated on a CF protocol. This all comes at a large out of pocket cost.
This miracle baby has struggled since she was six months old with 10+ surgeries, many many hospitalizations, long stays away from home for treatment, and does it all with a bravery and personality that is amazing. Thank you for all your continued support of the family! We are beyond grateful for your kindness.

 Original Campaign Post:

We (Parsons Family) recently found out that our Miracle "Rae of Sunshine”, Rae, our Goddaughter, is critically ill. She is 3 years old and has a tough road ahead of her. She needs long term treatment for multiple medical complications.  Some of this treatment will be recieved out of state. The family will be going to National Jewish Hospital in Denver, CO during the month of September to participate in their long term treatment program, with follow-up visits to the same facility. The family hopes that NJH can also provide a more detailed cause of illness and symptoms, and narrow down the exact diagnosis of her serious lung complications, and other critical health issues. This treatment program will assess her immune complications, her recurrent pneumonia caused by thickened mucous lining her lungs, her recurrent episodes of anaphylactic shock, her gastro complications, that will require future complicated surgery, and her lung complications brought on by aspiration of fluids, and aspiration of intestinal fluids. All of these critical issues have caused serious damage to her lungs, stomach, esophagus, and other areas. She is in need of medical equipment to assist with her breathing, immune, & gastric complications.  Many of these medical items are not fully covered, such as, specialized feeding supplies that assist with minimizing her aspiration,  a specialized vest to clear collected mucous from her lungs, and an elevated medical bed to minimize the damage being done internally by the aspiration of her gastric fluids, and feeding therapies, are not always covered by insurance. Rae, has had multiple critical ambulance rides that have been denied by insurance, as well as high cost related to 5 surgeries, and more surgical procedures are planned. These have had high out of pocket cost. These high medical costs do not include the emergency visits, and long hospital stays her family has had to endure. Her family is going to need a lot of help with expenses from medical needs to travel cost during their time at National Jewish Hospital.  Her mommy and daddy have been thru so much and are two of the most selfless people we know.  They will help out anyone who is in need no matter what.  Her mother, had to leave work for multiple months to care for Rae. We love them more than words can ever say.  Rae, her brother, and her parents need all the help they can get.  We are so thankful that you took the time to read this. Any amount that you can give will definitely be appreciated. We are incredibly grateful to all of you!  Please help us help our beautiful Miracle Goddaughter that is our "Rae Of Sunshine" and her wonderful parents.
