Stray Savers is a non-profit organization comprised of a group of compassionate pet-loving people who for over 10 years has been rescuing, rehabilitating and returning home hundreds of strays collectively. When we are called or come across a stray, after feeding them a good meal we'll take them to the SPCA, PetSmart or DAS (Animal Shelter) to be scanned for a microchip. If they have a microchip we contact the pet owner and re-unite them. If the pet owners' info is not updated and we are unable to speak directly to them about their found pet, then we leave the pet at the animal shelter so they can contact the pet owner by mail or email. If the stray does not have a microchip, we post their info/photo on lost pet sites such as HOME AGAIN, PET HARBOR, PET LINK or NEXT DOOR'S LOST AND FOUND PET. We then attend to any medical issues they may have from bathing them and treating them for fleas and ticks to more major issues like addressing bites wounds from being fought or attacked or broken legs or hips from being hit by a car. We then place the stray in a temporary foster home where they can feel safe and rest from their overwhelming journey. Then we wait for a response from their owner.

STRAY SAVERS TO THE RESCUE

Unfortunately, not all strays allow us to rescue them . They have been abused and neglected for so long that they don't trust people at all. Or that they are so frightened from being abandon or lost that they don't know what to do anymore. Their world as they knew it is gone. So, every day we place food and water out to keep up their strength in hopes that it will give them the energy they need to find their way back home or until we rescue them and find their owner or a new home.
Sometimes it will take weeks and even months to gain their trust and finally rescue them. Stray Savers teams up with other selfless rescue organizations to help us with difficult rescues. When called, everyone seems to springs into action on behalf of that dog or cat or pups or kittens to ensure a safe, happy, healthy return home or at last resort, to their new home.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

What can you do to help? We're glad you asked. Time is always of the essence when rescuing strays. They most often are in eminent danger, especially around freeways and busy streets.

THE 1ST THING YOU CAN DO: is to CALL 911, 311 or STRAY SAVERS (in the DFW area) to report an animal in a dangerous situation. Likewise, if you know of an animal being fought, abused or neglected please report it immediately. Don't turn a blind eye to a situation that could be resolved simply by removing the animal or providing the pet owner with resources like free spay/neuter and shots vouchers or food and adequate shelter.

THE 2ND THING YOU CAN DO: is to DONATE ......

food, bedding, toys , houses, kennels and money to help us continue our volunteer efforts and to cover the cost of minor medical care, flea/tick bathing and prevention supplies, shots/chips/spay/nueter services (when services are not free) food and gas for vehicle transport.

THE 3RD THING YOU CAN DO: is VOLUNTEER  to help us put out posters and food at feeding sites, upload pictures from home or phone and look for missing pets.

CALL...DONATE...VOLUNTEER!!
