Buck$ for Zack's Brain Surgery

Donation protected
On September 23rd, 2016, Zack's world was turned upside down during an emergency visit to Chester County Hospital. He was diagnosed with a tumor in the left frontal lobe area of his brain. Essentially, this is the area of the brain which directs our language comprehension, expressive speech, and other cognitive functions.

While spending the week at Penn Hospital in Philadelphia, Zack was treated and consulted by some of the best neurological specialists in the country. After one week of sitting, waiting, and pondering what the future might hold, Zack underwent a six-hour craniotomy on Friday morning, September 30, 2016. While the thought of any surgery is frightening enough, Zack was required to remain awake during the majority of the procedure.

While we are all eternally grateful for the treatment he received at Penn, the reality is brain surgery, speech therapy, and subsequent appointments are extremely expensive. Zack's physicians have informed him that he is battling a Grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma, thus requiring monthly neurological follow-ups, radiation, and chemotherapy now that the tumor has been successfully removed. Moreover, it will be several months until Zack is able to return to work and some sense of normalcy.

Nobody ever expects to hear the words "brain tumor" when visiting the doctor, but Zack has decided to fight his illness and remains very positive. The Zortman family, along with Zack's wonderful fiance Annie, are asking friends, relatives, acquaintances, and others to help ease the burden and anxiety of his mounting medical expenses.

Please take a moment to consider a donation, as it would be greatly appreciated. Again, all proceeds will be utilized for Zack's medical expenses, transportation costs, and payment of monthly bills while he is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy.

My brother Zack, a generous, talented, and courageous young man, sends his love and positive vibes to you all! And of course,  HAIL TO HIS BELOVED WASHINGTON REDSKINS!!! :)
