Pocket Ashtray Fund - Round 2 !
The first 500+ community paid for Pocket Ashtray's have been distributed!
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed in the first round of funding and also to everyone who has helped spread awareness, not only on the pocket ashtray but the enviromental benefits of keeping your cigarette butts off the ground. You guys have been a key stone in this foundation and I am very happy to call you my friends!
This is Round 2 of my Pocket Ashtray Distribution idea.
If you were not around for the 1st round and have no idea what this is I will give you a little run-down.
I found an awesome product called The Pocket Ashtray when I was on my way up to an event in Northern California.
"A Pocket Ashtray is a reusable, flexible, foil lined pouch designed so that users can simply drop in their still lit cigarette butt (no need to stub out the cherry), snap it shut and the odor and ash is contained inside. They eliminate any excuse for throwing cigarette butts on the ground."
I loved it so much and believed in it that I started collecting donations from the community so I can buy a big box and bring them to outdoor events and pass them out for free to my fellow smokers.
We raised $300 in 4 days to buy a box of 600 units in the first round of funding!
Now everywhere I go I pass them out and raise awareness about the program. Community funding has made it possible to get boxes and boxes of ashtrays out to some beautiful outdoor locations. It is an effective and cheap way to reduce the most toxic and harmful part of the footprint events can leave behind.
The first batch made it to the Mojave Desert and up to the internationaly acclaimed Symbiosys Gathering and they were immediatley a huge hit with everyone. Symbiosys loved them so much they let me donate 150 units to Staff Resources so they could pass them out to all the workers.
This time our donation goal is $1000 + the $300 we match. That will give us over 2500 units to put out there. Over 4 times the amount of the 1st batch! With a number like that we could make serious impacts in multiple locations.
They will ALWAYS be free at events, donation is just suggested but by all means not a requirement.
Donations now go twice as far! I am happy to announce that donations collected thus far ($282.75) will be used to match contributions made here leading up to that amount.
I am just going to call it $300 and we will go with that.
Put down 20 and we will match it to make it 40
Put down 50 and we will match it to make it 100
and so on. Up to $300.
We are not too far off from hitting a point of self-sustainability from donations collected in person and through PayPal. I believe we will see full sustanibility with this batch!
No time limit on this campaign. I will not shut it down until we hit the goal!
Thank you to everyone who has taken intrest in this project. I am happy to have my boots on the ground for my friends that want to help make a difference. I strive to make sure every ashtray I pass out ends up in the hands of someone who will really put it to use and it has been working great so far. Nothing but compliments and smiles!
