CALLING ALL VETERANS AND PEOPLE LOOKING TO SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE!

For the Last 30 years, Army Chaplain/Pastor George Hite Jr. has served in the military and Civilian community with extreme Love, Care, Compassion, Courage, Grace and Support. He always did this unselfishly without complaint or regret but unfortunately times have changed significantly and he is no longer able to do this at present.

In November 2009, Pastor George was diagnosed with Frontal temporal Lobe Dementia and PTSD at the very young age of 57 years old. The diagnosis of Frontal temporal Lobe Dementia was an absolute shock to our entire family, close friends and especially our church community. His illness seemed almost instantly and affected our family structure dramatically. Frontal temporal Lobe Dementia is a very rare illness that cause can extreme memory loss and complete personality change. In the last two years, my father’s health continues to decline because of the vicious cycle of this disease. In turn, my father continues to regress everyday as he battles more against; memory loss, speech loss, mental confusion, physical imbalance, incontenence, emotional and physical immobility. Pastor George has been ill for a total of almost 8 years now and his wife of 37 years Christine Hite, took an early retirement as a Navy Librarian to become his full time care-taker.
Furthermore, modern medicine has not given us much hope for my father’s illness. Instead, many doctors have told us there is nothing much we can do except wait and accept the daunting news. However, my father Pastor George is a great man of faith and my family and I continue to hold strong to this faith. So after much prayer and research we believe, we have found a facility and a group of highly trained doctors; to help aide and work to improve my father’s quality of life. This facility is in Orlando Florida and is called Plasticity Brain Centers: Neuro-Rehabilitation and Performance. This facility is a clinic that performs Neuroscience and specializes in Functional Neurology. They have cutting edge treatments and specific Technology for challenging Neurological cases such as; Alzhemiers, PTSD, TBI, Dementia and much more. Their unique approach allows them to study how the brain is functioning and then move towards proper treatment that targets the specific dysfunction of an individual's brain. This medical treatment was once a dream but is now a reality for us. It would mean so much to us because it can possibly help my dads specific illness of Frontal temporal Lobe Dementia/PTSD. It may also allow the doctors to explore other possible brain injuries that my father may have suffered during his time in the military. Plasticity Brain Centers has the top doctors in the country for this and provides state of the art medical care, rehabilitation that modern medicine has failed to offer us.
As much as this is great news, it is unfortunate that this treatment is not covered by my father's medical insurance. My mother is retired and we have to pay all of these expenses out of pocket. My father's treatment will be inpatient and up to two weeks is the recommended time for treatment. We are hoping my father will only have to stay for one week but this all depends on how he responds to treatment. It is $7,500.00 for a week’s worth of treatment and this does not cover the extra expenses for travel, hotel stay, food, plane tickets and other expenses that we may accrue along the way.
Lastly, the hardest part of this illness is that we are missing my father in the present moment, even though he is still here. We are so sad and it breaks our hearts that he has missed birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, his children getting married, having his first grandchild, interacting with his friends and most of all the ministry that he once did for the Lord. We miss my fathers humor, his love and friendship. We just miss him and him being in the present moment with us. My family and I never thought we would ever be in a position like this and we cling to our faith and pray to God for a miracle everyday. We have come to the realization that we cannot do this alone. So we are looking to anyone that is willing to support a great cause for a 100% disabled Veteran and would consider making a donation to help further my father's treatment because this could really change all of our lives for the better. We will be doing this donation through the Gofundme website and they will take 5% of all donations made. My father is scheduled to start receiving treatment on October 3, 2016 so we will start taking donations now through we meet our entire goal. This because we do not know exactly how much his treatment will cost and will have to pay it back in a promptly manner. No donation is too small and we believe a little bit really does go along way. So we accept anything that your heart is touched to give. We will also be forever grateful for your generosity and support, as we continue to wait as well as believe God for a miraculous miracle!

Thank you for listening to our story.

Lovingly and Prayerfully yours
The Hite Family.
