Roof for Meet Me Under the Bridge

Meet me under the bridge is a homeless ministry that serves men and women in Indianapolis, Indiana. It provides many services to those that prove a desire to work towards a goal of being self reliant. This aspect of their mission is what has drawn me to lend a hand where I can. They don't just give handouts, they require those they help to help themselves too. They must show progress and desire to eventually stand on their own two feet. Many have gone on to get jobs and apartments and some of those they've helped have come back to lead others to independence. 

The ministry has recently acquired a small building on the city's southside near an area well known for its homeless population. The purpose of this building is to kick this ministry to a new level by providing a home base of operation. Participants will be able to not only have basic needs met like showers and laundry services, but there will be a learning area where they can learn everything from basic life skills to how to find a job. There is also a storage area to store donated items that will be redistributed to those in need. The back open area will be used as a multipurpose area where people can congregate for anything from a Sunday service to a movie night. 

The problem is the roof leaks horribly. It has three levels of flat rubber roofs that have many layers on them. We have put on a temporary band aid that has had limited success to this point. We are continuing to try to stop the water, but a permanent fix is needed. 

We we have bids of $9,000-15,000 to fix the current roof. We are considering making the roof a pitched roof to get rid of the inherent problems associated with flat roofs. This will add more initially, but will be better in the long run.
