Jeffrey V. Palita was at the age of 17 when he was killed on May 14, 2005. Someone speeding @ 105 mph hit his car and he was killed instantly as he was leaving the Oxford Bowling Alley at 9:46 pm. He was the son of James and Jensine L. Goodman Palita. Jeffrey was a senior at Oxford Area High School from where he would have graduated on June 10th. He was planning on continuing his education by being accepted at Connecticut Broadcasting School in Cherry Hill, NJ. In the mean while he was working for Giant Food Store in Jennersville, Pa. He loved working there and had made many friends there, they were his "work family". Everyone I talked to at Giant when I did my grocery shopping told me how he could make everyone laugh or smile. Some kids there told me how they would come to work in a bad mood and he could turn that around for them within a few minutes, and how he had put a smile on their face. Two of my neighbors work there and they told me on how he would come up to them and just chat. They would sell hot dogs, soda & chips near the door to raise money. Jeff was their best customer. When Easter was coming near, the management came to Jeff and asked if he would be the store's Easter bunny. They asked him because they knew he had a way with little kids. They gave me many pictures of him throughout the store handing out plastic eggs with candy in them to the kids that were shopping with their parents. They had posted many of these pictures on the store's bulletin board. Everyone commented about it to me when I would be there shopping. Jeff's friends at Giant know I am his Mother. And one employee even took me to the bulletin board back where the employee time clock was is to show me the pictures, and they were right about the pictures posted there. I saw it with my own eyes. What 12th grade student does that in this life time? He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford. He was self-taught on both electric and acoustical guitars. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and hunting with his father and brothers. He also enjoyed skateboarding, talking on his cell phone with friends, remote control cars and model rockets. He was on the wrestling team through junior high school and was an avid sports fan, especially the Eagles. He also played on a church softball league. Jeffrey loved animals, having many pets of his own. Surviving beside his parents and two brothers, James A. married to Elizabeth Signs Palita of Oxford, and Matthew F. Palita, at home; paternal grandparents, Anthony and Mary Palita of Oxford; and maternal grandparents, Richard and Betty Goodman of Aston.
