**I sincerely need your help in supporting my path to advocate for international human rights or within immigration law. Please give what you can and may God richly bless you for it**
THE CAUSE:
As some of you may know a little over a year ago I began my legal education at The George Washington University (GW) Law School. Acceptance and matriculation to the school was really beyond my wildest dreams! If you would have told the 6th grade alto sax-toting middle-schooler - who wrote a paper about becoming a human rights attorney - that he would be on the journey to fruition of that dream he probably would have laughed...or asked how you came from the future. In all seriousness, I'm glad that my God dreams bigger than I do.
Between 6th grade and now I have seen Him replace my tiny dreams with His large ones. Even in between the days when my family came home to lights that wouldn't turn on and seeing my parents work endlessly to literally make sure we had a roof over our heads, I cannot say I have not been blessed by the virtue of those God's placed in my life.
Once again I have come up against what seems to be a pipedream given my circumstances as an immigrant to this country. Even in supplementing my merit scholarship with my income I am unable to sufficiently cover my tuition. I believe Lord is calling me to swallow my pride and be humble - to ask for help. Up until now I would have much preferred to keep my needs to myself and not say a word but...humility. SO I am asking YOU for your help in order to finish law school. Please give to support my legal education. What you give will help me pay for tuition for this semester and go a long way to helping me achieve my dream of advocating at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Last year, kept my initial acceptance to GW Law quite mum because I didn't want to get my hopes up as I considered the immensity of paying. My plan was to quietly just drop out and reach for more "achieveable" goals. I did not want to disappoint those who had invested and believed in me so much so I decided to not even try. However, with the encouragment of my family, after a year of stumbling through the Statute of Frauds in Contracts, negligence in Torts, and subject-matter jurisdiction in Civil Procedure I know this is where I'm supposed to be. As I hear about how I can help support refugee in Afghanistan seeking asylum and about the ICC conviction of Ahmad al-Mahdi for war crimes my fervor to advocate for those without a voice has been strengthened. Join me in dreaming big!
