Sweet Baby Melody's Funeral

My beautiful niece Melody was born August 20, 2016 weighing 7 lbs 1 oz 19 inches. She was immediately diagnosed with group b strep or GBS and put on antibiotics to treat the infection. She was discharged at 10 days and went home for 2 weeks then she had to be life flighted to Eastern Maine Medical Center and later diagnosed with severe bacterial meningitis. The damage caused by the meningitis was devastating. Melody was in the PICU at EMMC for 10 days. She was on a ventilator and suffering from seizures.  Until Friday, September 23, 2016 her parents Josh age 23 and Megan age 22 got the worst news any parent could have received. There was nothing that could be done to help their precious baby. Without the use of the machines she would not be able to sustain life, the damage to her brain was to the point that her basic brain functions were not enough to even keep her  alive. The following night baby Melody, at only 5-weeks-old, was taken off life support as her Mom got to hold her baby one last time:( Now our family is left devastated and heartbroken.
