Human Chain Aerial Banner
WORLD ANIMAL DAY - Sunday 9 OCTOBER is fast approaching, and that means our SIXTH annual Human Chain bridge event! We have vowed to form a human chain across Fremantle's Stirling Traffic Bridge until the live animal trade is stopped and that's just what we're going to do.
It's a day that sees people from all walks of life including Fremantle's Mayor, Labor and Greens MPs and vets, farmers, teachers, nurses, butchers, vegans, students and children come together to peacefully express their opposition to this trade.
Last year we hired a plane with an air banner to fly up and down the coast on that Sunday morning, culminating in a fly over of the Stirling Traffic Bridge, and it was a big hit. Pilot Brian form Air Ads even threw in some extra fly pasts up and down the coast over popular beaches for free... we think it was money well spent which is why we're asking you to chip in again this year.
Leading up to the Human Chain, we're also taking out ads in all the Community papers in an effort to get more people on the bridge than we have ever had before (1,200 in 2012).
Will YOU be part of history and donate just $5, or however much you can afford, towards realising this vision - IMAGINE 2,000 people (or more) joining hands in opposition to live animal exports, on the very bridge which has seen tens of millions of sheep and cattle cross it on the way to Fremantle Port and shipped on to horrific handling and slaughter in foreign countries.
Who joins us on the bridge every year and why? Everyone who opposes animal cruelty. Watch the Human Chain 2013 video .
Stop Live Exports is a Fremantle-based, incorporated, community organisation that was formed as People Against Cruelty in Animal Transport (PACAT) in the mid nineties and has been campaigning tirelessly against this trade for over two decades now - dispelling the myths, raising awareness and informing the uninformed, pressuring the politicians, bringing together those opposed to the trade at rallies and protests several times every year, monitoring the trucks and loading, and perpetually commenting in the media.
Thanks you so much to everyone who has so far donated.
Stop Live Exports
Just over a month to go until we see hundreds of people (hopefully thousands even!) spanning the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
We have booked the aerial banner - same company as last year, and Brian gives us really good rates because he supports our cause.
We have also committed to advertising in the local papers, also thanks to a sponsored rate from the good folk at Fremantle Herald.
We are committed to paying for it - now we need YOU to put your hand up to help us out - whatever you can afford - every $5 helps! Be part of the event, help us get the message out to thousands of people up and down the coast.
If you've already donated, we thank you! Please share this with your friends, family and colleagues.
