Hi, I'm Annika and I'm 16 years old. My parents, my 3 younger brothers and I moved here to Portland from Houston in November of 2015. After serving local churches in Houston for years, we felt the call of God to make a difference in one of the most unchurched cities in the United States.
In good faith, my parents signed a 3 year contract to serve in a local church here. We moved 1800 miles away from the city we called home within days of them signing. My mom was born and raised in Houston and my dad had lived there over 15 years, so I know they were confident God wanted us to make an impact in Portland.
Since we have been in Portland, we have seen a lot of students come to saving faith and over 40 students baptized, and countless others impacted in schools, home groups, and youth services. We have had the chance to meet and partner with some amazing community leaders in the school systems, local churches, and nonprofit organizations that are out here. My dad was able to share his story at a youth camp this summer also with over 400 people in attendance. My mom got the chance to develop amazing relationships with a ton of young ladies and their moms. I had the privilege of leading a congregation in worship songs every Sunday morning for several months. How awesome is our God!!!! Many of these students have become my best friends and their parents and families are part of our everyday lives. As believers in Christ Jesus, we are adopted into the family of God, and my family and I are grateful for everyone we have met since our arrival.
Unfortunately, my dad was released from his contract September 19th. We no longer have our monthly support to remain in our home or keep things going. We have received phone calls and messages from many families, parents, and students that want us to continue the work we do here in Portland. A few of them suggested we start a gofundme page. I am writing the description myself because with all that is going on, I wanted to help my parents. That brings me to my request.
I would like to raise enough support for 3 months of living expenses for our family of 6 so we have a fair shot and transitioning and my parents can seek out our next steps without rushing or worrying.
Please pray for us if you cannot give and help spread the word. If you can give, no amount is too small. This transition has been difficult and my mom had just recently found out she is pregnant so pray for her and my baby sibling also.
